This month’s post is really more of a pattern refashion then it is a hack. It started with the need for some new shorts to wear around the house and ended with these incredibly cozy pajamas.
Ok so let’s get personal for a moment. I pretty much live in pajamas. I come home and change into my sweats right away, but I do also like to look somewhat presentable incase someone stops by. I think I have accomplished that with this look. These pajamas are the most comfortable things I’ve worn but if the post man comes to the door I don’t have to pretend I’m not home.
I used a super soft 2-way french terry from LA Finch Fabrics to make the Comfy Cozy Pajama shorts. The original pattern has a cuff around the leg of the shorts. I sewed up the low rise shorts without the cuff, leaving the edges raw. I really like how the raw edges of french terry curl up and decided to use that as part of my look.
I’m sure you know by now how much I love pockets, on everything!! Lucky for me, the pattern already has pockets so that was an obvious choice.
I used the Emily T-shirt pattern for this top. I didn’t have to do much to alter the original pattern. Normally I sew up a size small but because I was looking for a looser fit I sized up to a medium. I used a lightweight solid rayon spandex knit from LA Finch Fabrics. Their knit is so soft!! After trying the pajamas on, I felt like there was something missing. The top needed something to help tie everything together. I cut out a small breast pocket from the french terry scraps I had left.
I love how these turned out!! I have already worn them twice since I made them earlier this week. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think! I’d love to see how you refashion your Laela Jeyne patterns.
