When Marisa first asked me to make and photograph the Violet suit, I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous. I wasn’t sure how I felt about pictures of me in a swimsuit all over the internet but after making this suit I was completely in love. The Violet Swimsuit is such a chic and flattering suit.
The front neckline features a faux cross over with an optional ruffle add on makes it an ultra feminine swimsuit! There are two options for the back neckline: high rise and low rise. And lets not forget my favorite part of this swimsuit, the side cutouts. The tutorial offers great instructions for cup insertion and a built in bra for the extra comfort.
Marisa has all the bases covered to make this a perfect fitting suit! And she has been so generous to add a BONUS Isla Kimono Pattern.
I’ve made many swimsuits but never for myself. I have to blend almost everything I make for myself and the thought of blending sizes for a swimsuit just seemed like too much. Marisa, however offers an extensive sizing section in the pattern to help you feel confident about your blending skills.
My measurements are all over the chart, cup size: A, chest: 34″, waist: 28″, hips: 38″. I used the A cup pattern pieces for the built in bra and blended between an 8 and 10. I also added 2″ to the length since I am 5’7″, which also made the side cutout larger. I chose the low rise back neckline with no ruffle.
I used this gorgeous Dusty Rose performance knit from LA Finch Fabrics. This trendy dusty rose is a trending pantone color for 2017 and I think it worked perfectly for this suit!! I love how buttery soft this 4-way nylon spandex is.
If you haven’t been keeping up with the Summer Collection Blog Tour going on this week I definitely suggest tuning in. There are some amazing bloggers sharing their makes. Make sure you stop by Marisa’s Day One Round Up blog post to check out the schedule of bloggers.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to relax by the pool with no kids!!
